The city's ten districts

Since 1987 the city divides into ten districts, several of them former annexed towns that keep their own character. Each has its council and identity; this is the bird's-eye view.

Ciutat Vella and Eixample

The monumental core and Cerdà's grid: where the visit concentrates. Ciutat Vella gathers the Gothic, Born and Raval; the Eixample is modernisme and promenade shopping.

The inner ring

Sants-Montjuïc (mountain and port), Les Corts (Camp Nou), Sarrià-Sant Gervasi (towers and calm), Gràcia (squares and fiesta) and Horta-Guinardó (maze and villas): residential Barcelona with its own centers.

North and east

Nou Barris and Sant Andreu keep a working-town air, and Sant Martí is the district that changed most: Poblenou, the 22@ and the seafront beaches. Ten pieces, one city.
